Last season, pole sitter Travis Kvapil reclaimed the lead with just fourlaps remaining and held off Johnny Benson by less than a second for his ninthcareer Craftsman Truck Series title. Kvapil has appeared sparingly in thisseries in 2008, competing in just six races and posting four top-10s. JonWood, who placed third, led for a race-high 49 laps, while Todd Bodine, the2005 champion led for 45 laps.Mike Skinner dominated this race in 2006, as he led for 114 laps, includingthe final 21, as he edged Ted Musgrave by 0.309 of a second for his only winin 2006 and the 19th of his Truck Series career. Skinner, who started on thepole, led on four separate occasions. Currently seventh on the points list,Skinner is winless this season, but ranks third on the all- time wins listwith 23. He has also captured the pole at Las Vegas three straight times.The pole sitter has had excellent success in this race over the years withfive wins in 11 races, including the last two. In fact, the pole sitter hasnever finished outside the top-10.In 2005, Todd Bodine made good use of the green-white-checker finish to passTed Musgrave and capture the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The No.30Toyota crossed the finish line fourth lengths ahead of Musgrave's Dodge. Withthe win, Bodine registered his fourth of 13 career Craftsman Truck Seriestitles. Starting in the third position, Bodine led for a race-high 114 laps.Pole sitter Mike Skinner finished sixth, leading for a total of five laps.Las Vegas Motor Speedway joined the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 1996 andhas held 11 events. There was no race in 2000. The 1998 Sam's Town 250 decidedthe closest championship in series history. Jack Sprague won the race but RonHornaday Jr finished second to claim the title by three points. The track wasreconfigured in 2006 with banking in the turns increased from 12 to 20degrees.The next race in the Craftsman Truck Series championship is scheduled forOctober 4th in Alabama for the Mountain Dew 250 at Talladega Superspeedway,where Todd Bodine is the defending champion.09/16 16:01:06 ET
