I can't believe this is the 18th year of this festival. What a great time. Great vibe with the island music and the relaxing downtown feel of Hendersons Water District. The festival is held next to the El Dorado Casino and the Courthouse, The Library and the Events Center. Lots of FREE parking, Lots of shade and grass plus a water feature in the park for the kids. You can hear the music no matter where you are and the BBQ is smoking up the whole events center. People were scattered everywhere they could find a piece of shade eating a taste of the islands. Lots of kids enjoying the Hawaiian icees about 8-10' inch high snow cones with rainbows of color. The event was of course very PRO Obama since he is a native of Hawaii. There were dozens of vendors selling shirts and jewelry and others offering information on colleges, jobs and history in Hawaii. There were probably 2500-500o people there throughout the 1st day. The funnel cakes were crispy and SWEET-the best this fall so far!! The Salmon was so good it tasted like steak and the pork was sweet and juicy and a little salty. The Fried rice and pork was super the noodles good too. The Mahi Mahi was a little unexpected but very delightful I would definitely like to try it again. One more day left so if you find some time between 9 and 6 Sunday head to Henderson.

  1. Happy Birthday, Bro. I actually did think of you today. I was thinking of how old you are, and how you look it. (HAHAHAHA!!!! hear my laughter..still the same obnoxious, annoying, I'm cuter-than-you laugh!!!!) Ha. The Festival looked like fun. I'd like to take a tour to Hawaii next!! trying to convince the hubs that we'd do well in an apartment (flat broke, mind you!) Hope your day was special; you'll be FORTY before you know it!!!
