Approximately 400 award-winning cooks from across the United States and beyond will compete in the annual World’s Championship Chili Cookoff™ held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 10, 11 and 12 11 a.m.-6 p.m. daily at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino to compete to see who will be named the 2008 World Chili Champion. The cookoff, produced by the International Chili Society (ICS), features officially sanctioned red chili, green “verde” chili and salsa competitions as well as a variety of chili-themed activities and live entertainment throughout the weekend. The event will be held in the northeast parking lot and include live music, chili tasting, retail vendors, food, drink, guest participation contests and more. However, guests who wish to participate in chili tasting must purchase tasting tickets. Chili tasting will take place between 1-3 p.m. daily or until the chili runs dry. Participation allows for a chance to vote in the People’s Choice Chili Competition.
